North Carolina Law Concerning Aftermarket Window Tinting:

Passenger "Cars"- Every window on a passenger car is regulated. This is different from a Multipurpose type vehicle, example: Trucks, Suv, Minivans and Work Trucks/Vans.  On a "passenger" car no window can be tinted darker than 35%. However, there is a 3% tolerance allowed for the variance in testing devices, so technically speaking you can have your tint as dark as 32%. 31.9% is Illegal. Your car will be checked every year during your inspection for the presence of aftermarket window tinting.  If you have aftermarket window tinting on your car the inspection station will charge you $10.00 extra every year to verify that the film is at 32.0% or higher.  This is an annual fee and not a one time certification charge.

Trucks, Suv's, Minivans etc-only the front two doors and the windshield are regulated.  All windows to the rear of the driver can be as dark as you like.

Free Testing:  If you would like to have your tinting checked at absolutely no cost to you, please come by our tint shop located at 1301 Newton Road in North Raleigh, anytime during normal business hours.

FAQS

The following are commonly asked questions with honest and real answers, I hope they will help you out with some of the questions that you may have, however if you still have a question please feel free to give us a call so we can help you out.

How long have you been in business?  I started my company in 1990 in a shop on New Bern Ave.  From there we moved to a warehouse on Stonybrook Drive, then to Millbrook Road, then to Spring Forest Road and now to our permanent home at 1301 Newton Road.

Why the two names-FormulaOne of Raleigh and All Pro Window Films?  FormulaOne is a national window film brand.  We were the first ones to introduce FormulaOne to the Raleigh Market back in 1995 and for brand recognition we took on the Corporate name.  When we really started getting busy in Commercial and Residential window tinting in around 1998 we had to come up with a name we could use for that side of our business, since FormulaOne is an automotive film only.

How many locations do you have?  Currently we only operate to physical locations: 1301 Newton Road in Raleigh and 702 Laura Duncan Road in Apex.  We are not affiliated with any other companies in the area.  Please do not be fooled into thinking we are connected with other companies or people.  We have built an outstanding name for ourselves over the years and many former employees are still trying to mislead people into thinking they are connected to us somehow.  The fact is if an employee is not working for me now, he/she was probably terminated for one reason or another and most of the time its because he/she could not provide the standards of service that I expect for my customers.

Whats the best brand of window film?  Thats a really tough question.  I can tell you this.  I have been around window films for nearly 20 years.  I have bought and sold films from various manufacturers.  I am also very active behind the scenes with the International Window Film Association.  Some manufacturers are extremely involved in their process for producing window films and some like to "farm" out their processes to other companies.  When this "farming" out occurs you end up with very inconsistent product.  So this is my position.  Because of how long I have been in the business, I like to stick with products that give me and my customers the most success and satisfaction regardless of price.  Thats why I purchase most of my films from Solutia, the manufactures of FormulaOne, Llumar and Vista.  We have very few warranty claims because they make an outstanding product.  I have tried other products as recently as last year.  And with all the claims about, no dyes, no metals, carbon this and carbon that, the films have failed in less than a year.  So be careful and stick with what works, brands that have tested time, warranties that are not going to be canceled on you and a dealer thats going to be here when you need them.

Whats the deal with my film getting scratched when I roll my windows up and down?  Some auto manufactures are installing hard rubber seals on the inside of their door panels.  What we like to see is felt or moleskin on these seals.  We have even seen these seals scratch the glass by itself without film installed.  We highly encourage you to talk with one of our film technicians about this subject while your car is being tinted to see if you need to address this problem or not.  If your car is one that has a history of scratching glass and/or tint we will recommend that you allow us to treat the interior rubber seals with a felt/moleskin process.  There is a cost to this and it is in addition to the film cost.
